The Enthusiasts/Grizzly Troubadour/Kaizen

Electrified Folk Rock from The Pacific Northwest

Hailing from the shores of Anacortes we are a Washington State band of folks whose love of music is only rivaled by our love of life! Siblings, Sommer and Andrew have been writing songs together since the days of their youth and have expanded their acoustic penned songs of joys and struggles to a full band that expands their sound to showcase the their infectiously dynamic enthusiastic approach to folk rock. Featuring guitars, drums, bass, mandolin, accordion, and harmonies from one to all of us we like to describe our sound as energetic and approachable with a bevy of covers and original songs that will get you singing and dancing along easily.
We like to think of ourselves as a family band that hopes to extend that family to each and every person we get to share our music with. We hope the enthusiasm of our performances and our love for the community of song shines through.

Country Lips

Country Lips

It’s been a very long while but Seattle’s Country Lips makes a special Friday night show at The Old Edison! Here are some Seattle reviews:

Country music gets a bad rap, and it’s mostly the fault of goody two-shoes like Keith Urban and Garth Brooks. I mean, back in the day, country was full of bad boys (and if you’ve never read George Jones’s memoir, I Lived to Tell It All, you really should—that man was an animal!). Seattle’s Country Lips sound and play more like classic country’s raucous and rowdy boys—and their live shows are becoming legendarily wild. It’s hard to stand still when eight-plus members are bringin’ the foot-stompers. Country Lips are putting the party back in the original party music. Somebody had to do it. It’s not always about tears falling in your beer.

-The Stranger

Many, many years before the likes of Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Blake Shelton donned 10-gallon hats and began crooning about blue jeans and cheesy romance, country was the genre of choice for drunkards, rebels, and rockers. Seattle’s own Country Lips pay homage to that proud tradition, cranking out debauched ballads with slurred-speech choruses that would make Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard proud. The eight-piece band has a reputation for rowdiness (as should any roots country revivalists worth their weight in Jack Daniels)…

Friends for The Ghost

Friends for The Ghost

Friends for The Ghost is an unlikely assembly of Skagit and Whatcom greats performing Americana from some of the most rock-and-roll names that ring out in the deep northwest.

Frontman and songwriter Wes Jones is likely a familiar sight if you have a drinking problem in Skagit county. He’s a big feller, but even larger than life on stage. To see Wes in this element is to assume he lives and breathes this hollering, cannonball rock lifestyle. Other outstanding contributions come from Skagit staples of studio and stage. Guitarist Charlie Krengel’s lightning-fast fretwork and tasteful phrasing make him an outstanding fit for any band, rockin’ or otherwise. Phil Carter’s drumming has a sniper’s precision and a flair for dynamic contrasts. Rick Simcock’s steady hand on the upright bass anchors the lineup for a warm and full sound.
